We know the first time can be a source of worry. Here is everything you need to know before you come.

Tip: have a light meal 2 hours before the session. Bring something to keep you occupied (a book, headphones). A companion may stay with you for the first few sessions.
Coming on holiday to Sidi Bel Abbès or to the Oran coast? Contact us at least 1 month in advance with the same documents. We will confirm that a station is available.

Find out moreBecause the unknown is more unsettling than the known, here is exactly what happens — in order, with no surprises.
Wheelchair access. Take your time — our time slots are designed so that you are never rushed.
Weight, blood pressure, temperature. The nurse notes how you are feeling at that moment. A relative may stay with you at this stage.
The doctor reviews your file, adjusts your session settings if needed and answers your questions. You decide together.
Reclining chair, blanket, pillow. Insertion of the fistula needles (or connection of the catheter) — 2 to 3 minutes. The nurse explains each step to you.
The machine starts up. You can read, sleep, look at your phone or listen to music.
The machine measures your blood pressure automatically. A nurse checks on you every 15 minutes. A nephrologist is on the unit. Coffee is served midway through the session.
Needle removal, compression, dressing. Discharge weight, a final blood pressure reading, a final word with the nurse. Your next appointment is given to you.
A little rest if needed in the waiting room. Your relative can accompany you home.
You are never alone, at any point. That is the rule here.
